About the event
Spend a couple of hours immersed in nature making beautiful blue cyanotypes in our Wee Studio space just outside Ballater in Royal Deeside.
Cyanotype is a camera-less photographic printing process invented by British Scientist John Herschel in 1842, that produces a striking monochromatic shade of dark Prussian blue. Botanist Anna Atkins used cyanotypes to create the first-ever photographically illustrated book featuring British algae in 1843.
We’ll go for a relaxed Autumnal walk in Glen Gairn to gather seasonal botanical materials, then make 2 Cyanotypes – one on watercolour paper and one on fabric. We’ll experiment with using digital images printed onto acetate as well, combining these with the botanical materials.
The perfect way to make a unique gift, or just take some time out and learn a new creative skill.
